BLOODWOOD QUARTET

Bloodwood Quartet is a chamber music quartet:
Laura Curotta, viola; Robert Jackson, cello; Daniel Lopez, violin;  Jason Tong, violin. With guest artist: Eleanor Streatfeild, cello.

Formed in 2006 at Sydney Conservatorium of Music the Bloodwood Quartet has toured extensively in Australia and abroad as cultural ambassadors for Sydney University. Laura Curotta (viola) and Robert Jackson (cello) remain from the original quartet. They now reside in Armidale where they both serve on the faculty at the New England Conservatorium of Music and perform throughout New England and the North West. They were joined on violin by Daniel Lopez and Jason Tong, both sought after Brisbane-based musicians. Eleanor Streatfeild, cellist, formerly of Armidale, appeared as a guest artist on this tour to complete the quintet formation for works by Boccherini and Schubert.
Pocket Productions was launched last year as an Arts North West initiative to deliver high quality productions to smaller communities and villages in the New England North West. This April, the network welcomed a series of concerts by the wonderful Bloodwood Quartet.

THE STORY ONLY I CAN TELL

with the participation of Barraba Central School students
Celebrated Chinese Australian photographer and story-teller William Yang shares fascinating insights into his life. His Chinese forbears emigrated to Australia 130 years ago and subsequent generations adapted to Western culture, forcing William to dig deep to reclaim his ancient heritage. He is internationally renowned for his poignant theatre pieces which explore social diversity, longing and travel through his intimate photos and wry observations. 
William will have been conducting workshops in the week prior to the performance with senior students from Barraba Central School. They will be joining him on stage to tell their own stories.
